I had the privilege of attending an event at the City Tree House, 129 West 20th Street, NYC.
The event was for TRUE COOK PLUS, a microwave technology that cooks microwaveable food to perfection & optimal taste while eliminating concerns of Salmonella and E. coli. It is becoming the standard for food preparation. We will all soon have this tech in our microwaves.
They made us pizzas and brownies with this technology and both were delicious (I was starving as usual!). You can tell the above microwave was kept busy, making a room full of people their individual pizzas! I was also surprised at how perfect the texture of the brownies was, there was no way I could have done!
So here’s the story. Most of us know that water takes longer to boil at different elevation points, i.e., Denver vs. San Diego. The new technology in this microwave takes that into account. When you first take this baby home you have to input your zip code. This way the microwave adjusts for your specific elevation and powers up accordingly. Also, there are various voltage differences in almost all microwaves: this technology compensates to make it uniform.
Ultimately, if microwaves don’t adjust for the various nuances of our world, they may not heat their products sufficiently to kill any e.coli bacteria or salmonella. There are 75 million cases of food poisoning a year – this can help reduce the cases that are caused by under cooking food (mostly affecting infants and the elderly). That’s why this technology is the wave of the future, it makes sure your food is properly heated every time.
A partner to this technology, food companies are increasingly putting these codes on their products (see the above tru cook plus number on the pizza box, it corresponds to the label on the microwave). Currently 120 food items carry the code. There will be 220 products within the next 3 months and more going forward. In addition, on the website below, you can find the code for a variety of frozen and packaged food items that don’t carry the code (yet).
Currently Kenmore and LG are using the technology in some of their microwaves priced at $119 – $139. It has been so successful, that they are expanding the models. Shortly, the TrueCookPlus technology will be in all Kenmore Elite microwaves, including over the range microwave ovens. Look for this product currently at Sears and Best Buy, they are flying out of the stores like hot cakes!
For more info please go to http://www.truecookplus.com/, you will be able to see a list of all your favorite foods that currently carry the codes for this technology, and some that will in the future, with more to be added very soon!
