The first Saturday of every month, 9 a.m. – 12 noon in Manhattan, possibly everywhere in America, Home Depot sponsors a free woodworking workshop for kids.
They provide everything, from ready made kits to make your projects, to the soil that was supposed to go into these planters. I find the staff to be wonderfully helpful, and I find Home Depot’s marketing system to be genius. My son gets to create whatever he likes, this time guided by a staff member, he did make a planter, even though it as not anything like the plan said. That’s OK, he only has to stay within the lines at school! For free they very generously let us stay as long as we like and I believe they are building a future customer base in my son. As is, afterwards, he was perusing the locks for front doors and found one he wanted me to buy. Next time, I told him!
