Firstly, everyone braved the elements of NYC today to attend this late afternoon party. My son was almost blown down to the ground, luckily he has 2 dads each weighing over 220 pounds each, one dad had to hold him against a lamp post at one point the winds were so strong. Me, I am the mom, I just yelled at my son for not zippering his coat! That’s what I do.
This was a GREAT party, full catering for the parents (thanks EP), 2 years of classmates invited (its all about me, that just meant I had loads of adults to talk to, something as a married person I crave!), and a host of activities for the kids. Not that that is enough for my rambunctious son, but when the petting zoo came out (small animals only!), he was mesmerized, he loves animals, just like the birthday girl!
So if I was going to throw a party, and I am not (all my money goes into shopping for the blog material!), this is how I would do it: a small gift bag in the middle with a Zhu-Zhu pet, create a sundae bar after the pizza dinner, huge chocolate cake, 3 pinatas with so much candy that the kids were almost too tired to get it all (thank goodness it wasn’t my party, I would have had the kids chasing leftover Halloween candy purchased at 75% off, I still have some hanging around 5 months later!)., and then a larger goodie bag at the end. That was today’s party, an awesome extravaganza! Well worth risking our lives for in the rain storm! We cannot thank RS and MS enough for the great time!
I understand the desire to throw an awesome party for your child (we did that for 2 years and then it was my turn for my 50th!) , we are already talking about having my sons Bar Mitzvah (in 6 years) on the Intrepid. Only cause they wouldn’t let us do it on the Space Shuttle, but we are still negotiating!
