I used to spend upwards of $30 on fancy Olive Oils at www.diplaos.com in Little Italy (a fantastic cheese and oil and cold cut shop) as they were absolutely delicious. Budgetary restraints have not yet forced me to buy Costco house Olive Oil (not that it is a bad oil) but I have found a good oil at Gracefully Market, De Cecco Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 7.99 for regular or organic, it is quite tasty on salads as well as main courses – my spouse is always trying to mask the flavor of my home cooking!
I don’t know if they over ordered or not but they have a large supply and it is on a running sale so you know me, I am always constantly stocking up, and have been known to give these as gifts for the holidays to the Staten Island family!
The other sale of note, this week only, at my local Associated supermarket (I love going in there during the week, its the banter with all the girls at the checkout counter!) is for 3.99, Colavita Canola/Olive Oil blend. This is a great oil for cooking, I do chicken cutlets once a week (for 2 nights of dinners, they ain’t getting fresh cooked every night!) and it is a great price, 75% Canola and 25% Virgin Olive.
Stock up now, I am headed out to buy them out! You know I live in fear that the world will stop producing oils! At least that’s what it looks like when I shop! No, I am not a pack rat!
