The first Saturday of every month, call store for times as the Internet is not always correct, Home Depot has a woodworking class for kids. FREE!
Our first time was in December, a woman from our class had 3 kids from our class, 3 from her older son, and 4 of her own kids. You know me, I was thinking this would be a great way to have a birthday party, don’t tell the store, just invite everyone and sneak a pizza in afterwards!
January’s project was a calendar. Beautiful, huh? My son does not follow instructions, he dances to the beat of a different drummer, and we are not in school so I do not push him to follow the instructions of Home Depot, remember pick your battles. As long as the store does not care, he is free to hammer away and create whatever he sees in his mind. His is in the front of the picture, he said it was a candy dish (in 2 parts I suppose). I get frustrated when the project is not done as per the instructions, I thought the calendar looked great, so 14 bent nails later I completed my own project! Again, the folks at Home Depot are very kind and patient, they are happy to let everyone do their own thing, anyone of any advanced age, even myself! They really have an awesome staff. My completed project is in the back, I think it is terrific, but how do we give it as a gift, my son refuses to take credit for it and I refuse to buy any more gifts!
