My son is adopted, he does not share DNA with either of his parents. And yet, even when we walk into a museum he wants to go into the store. He always wants to buy something, no matter what store it is, the item doesn’t even matter, he just wants to shop, almost compulsively, like his dads (my spouse has shopping issues as well, like the sports jacket he bought at Target – this from a guy with 12 $1600 suits in the closet – cause he needed a 10Th one to wear on the weekends- you know I was yelling in the aisles!)
We went to the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City – it is a great museum, all hands on, which is what my son needs. We were there for hours, ending in a very wet time at the dam building area (actually, it is not dam building but that’s what it became at the end of the day with all the kids gathered around, no one was supposed to get wet!)
Of course target is on the way home, and I had a $50 gift card to spend which was not spent on me, needless to say! My son got the last medium snowsuit (16.99 – dude, awesome price, I do not need fancy for him!) and my spouse got the friggin jacket – that left me with $3 from my gift! Waa! I’ll make up for it , don’t worry!
My sister arrived home in Hoboken and was able to get us a home cooked meal, something we do whenever we spend the day in Jersey. She makes the best sweet potatoes EVER! I think she gets them shipped from Japan. We had a great time in her apartment as we always do, my son loves it there and she is a wonderful Aunt. My spouse wanted to get out of the house so we accomplished our goal – we got home at 1030!
I need to rest and return stuff today!
