CVS – How To Shop Repost!

First, go to CVS and look for the tab for their coupons, usually on the top, CVS takes their coupons and a manufacturers coupon for the same item.

Then check out
http://www.iheartcvs.com/
Check for weekly specials. I live in Manhattan, the drugstores are the only places that accept Internet coupons, the supermarkets do not accept them. But beware, the Manhattan weekly brochure is usually 4 pages compared to the suburban CVS weekly brochure, they are usually over 12 pages long! I have been known to shop the Staten Island CVS to save money, that is how I got 4x 4 packs of Boost protein drink for free last year!

You must have a CVS extra care card and you have to register it on-line for email specials. You will get money off coupons on a regular basis. The important thing about these CVS money off coupons is use them FIRST! Otherwise you will be reducing your total order value and you may dip below the minimum needed to use the CVS coupon then you may not be able to use it. See example next:

Explanation: When I receive an email coupon for $4 off a purchase of $20, I carefully plan out my shopping list. I try to keep my purchase as close to $20 as possible to make the coupon worth 20%. You must use this coupon first, any other special will reduce your total and drop you under the amount to be eligible for the $4 off of $20. Hand any other coupons to the clerk after the $4 goes through. If you get an email coupon for $5 off of $25, do the math and follow the above instructions. If I have any other high coupons, this is when I use them. $5 off of Cetaphil (for $5 soap), $5 off of Ben-Gay (for $5.99 Ben-Gay) boosts my total to get towards the $20.

Lastly, every Saturday eve, I head to hip2save for the weekly CVS shopping guide. She collects the best deals on the Internet. She matches the CVS sales to the CVS coupon to the Manufacturers coupon. Yes, you can “stack” a CVS coupon with a Manufacturers coupon just like at Target. 2 coupons for 1 item is the way to go!

And always befriend a cashier. I am friends with the girls at my local CVS. There are less coupon arguments that way!

UPDATE! Everyone in my family has a CVS extracare card. That means when the Allegra allergy medicine became available over the counter there were deals to be had multiple times! I bought a 5 pill pack for $6.99. I got $6.99 in extrabucks to use for anything else, like milk which we go through many gallons a week here. I did this with every one’s card in the house. I mean the pills were free!

Outlet Shopping, How To!

Do not go to the outlets before reading this post!
They most probably have a website with coupons.

For example, I go to Woodbury Commons several times a year.
https://www.premiumoutlets.com/
(Yours may belong to a different umbrella organization, check them for their own deals, google it, search the net, there are always extra deals to be had for insiders!)

You must join the VIP club – then you can print coupons AND a coupon for a coupon book available at the info desk at this outlet chain. I can also get that coupon book with my AAA card or my MasterCard with the Continental airline logo. What’s better than a coupon at a discount store, especially when they have their semi-annual sales!

It feels as if I am in Italy, when I go to Woodbury Commons. I hope the Armani store has some nice things on sale for me!

Supermarket Shopping How To, Repost!

I live in Manhattan. The prices here run from high to absurd. We are very blessed to live here and also have a car. It is important that my son see his relatives often, and that is the easiest way to do it (so I told my spouse!). Almost every Sunday we go to the Italian side of the family for Sunday dinner. Besides being absolutely delicious, it is my chance to shop where things are at a more reasonable price. I drop off my boys and head to the supermarket. Yes, I am really an old Jewish lady.

My prep work at home includes searching on-line for the current sales circular of the supermarket I am going to visit. I make a list of things I need and a list of things on sale. I cross reference with my coupons. My average savings at the Staten Island Waldbaum’s is 50%. On a $70 shopping trip, paying $35 is not too shabby.

For your prep, my first plug is for http://www.hip2save.com/. I visit this site several times a day and print out some awesome coupons. The next site I get great coupons from is http://www.printablecouponspot.com/. These sites will tell you even if there are companies offering great coupons on their respective facebook pages!

Next is the king of grocery sales sites, http://www.livingrichwithcoupons.com/grocery-store-deals This is one of my favorite sites for grocery shopping. I gave you the link directly to the supermarket listings that she covers. I use this site when I am going to Shop-Rite. Every combination of coupon is discussed vs. sale item. I have gotten free milk (I lie, they paid me in overage!), and I have gotten Aunt Jemima waffles for $.24. (lucky for them, there is not a Shop-Rite nearby, they might have to declare bankruptcy!) .

She also explains “Catalina” coupons, that is where when you buy certain items and then you get back a store “cash” coupon good on your next purchase of anything. That is how I made money a few months back on 6 gallons of milk!

Now, I know not all of you are old ladies like me with too much time on their hands. Just try some of these things, see if it is worth your time to save $50 or more a week!

And I do not accept cash payments for this advice!

Free Food at Target

Gotcha!
It takes work, but it is possible!

1. I am constantly printing coupons as suggested from Hip2Save. Then when the deals come through, I am ready.
I also go to Printable Coupon Spot, sometimes this site has other items and does not overlap hip, but mostly it does if you only have time for 1.

2. Target has their own coupons right on their website, Target. Scroll down and look about half way on the left. Most, but not all coupons, are from Target itself. Some are from the manufacturer. Here’s why it is important – Target will accept 2 coupons for 1 item if you “stack,” that means use 1 Target coupon and 1 Manufacturers coupon for the same item.

This is how during the holiday season I scored many boxes of Stove Top stuffing for free, many 6 packs of Jell-o for a very low price from the retail cost, and a lot of candy almost free at the holiday clearance with coupons that I saved that did not expire until after the various holidays (Xmas, Valentines Day, etc.).

3. Lastly, for the match-ups, go to Totally Target. I understand you are not all bored housewives like me with too much time on your hand. That’s why I have attempted to write this all down succinctly for you so you can follow my instructions and get things for cheap. Totally Target will match 3 amazing things. Current sales from the flyer, both published and non-published, Target house coupons, and Manufacturers Coupons. That’s 3 opportunities to reduce the price of Targets products. That’s how I like to shop! Almost all of these sites also give you the direct link to all the coupons that they mention!

Last example, I wanted a Sonicare toothbrush for my rotting teeth and gums. For several weeks there was a half off sale from $80 to $40 at Target. There was a Manufacturers coupon from Phillips for $10. There was a Target coupon for $10. There was a $10 rebate to mail in (I just received my check). The $80 item was purchased by me for $10. This is an item I use regularly, I can always use a spare at home. That was an amazing deal, they are not all that good, but you never know!

(Did I need 4? That’s another story for an addiction blog. Needless to say everyone in the family is hopefully getting these $10 rebate checks! Don’t tell Phillips!)

The “How To” should be in this blog post, please follow these instructions before you visit Target to save the maximum amount of money!

SUPERMARKET SHOPPING HOW TO

Now here is a biggie for everyone across the country: http://www.livingrichwithcoupons.com/grocery-store-deals This is one of my favorite sites for grocery shopping. SUBSCRIPTIONS TO COUPON SITES – UPDATE

Almost daily I receive couponing related emails from the following sites:

http://www.hip2save.com/
http://www.totallytarget.com/
www.coupongeek.net/
http://www.livingrichwithcoupons.com/
http://www.thriftyandthriving.com/
http://www.mummydeals.org/
http://www.freesnatcher.com/
http://www.momsbyheart.net/
http://mojosavings.com/

I understand I am a stay at home dad. Because of this everyone thinks I have endless hours to do nothing but check these sites. This is unfair and untrue! I go to the gym, go to certain self-help meetings, food shop, clothes shop, eat bon bons, let the cleaning lady in, watch my “stories,” etc. My job does not just happen, I put in a lot of work!

Because I do get these emails throughout the day I am able to print out coupons that sometimes have a very limited life span, i.e., there are only a limited amount made available by the companies: 1.50 off of Oscar Mayer Bacon, 1.00 off of 7 Up, etc. These types of coupons go fast, I have to be on the ball if I am going to print out 2 copies from each of my 3 computers. I used those as examples because I ended up getting them for free. Doesn’t my living room look nice with 6 bottles of 2 Liter 7Up sitting in a chair watching TV! I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, if I lived in a 3 bedroom house I would manage to stuff that full as well.

There are additional sites such as
http://www.iheartcvs.com/ and
http://www.iheartwags.com/
for CVS and Walgreen’s.
And remember CVS and Target have coupons on their own sites and if they are store coupons you can double dip with manufacturers coupons.

Before a major shopping trip I check out my sites and try to match them with the sales in the store circulars that are available on-line.
http://www.livingrichwithcoupons.com/ has a large listing for sale match-ups at many supermarkets, check to see if your local grocer is listed, it works for me for Shop-Rite but not Waldbaum’s.

I just wanted to share these with you, the sites that I view daily or more for my own savings. If you have the time and the patience, you can work money savings miracles!

COUPON SITES OF NOTE PART 1

BOOKMARK THIS IMPORTANT COUPON BLOG AND REVIEW WEEKLY!

http://www.target.com/ , scroll down for their coupon page
http://www.totallytarget.com/
http://attentiontargetshoppers.com/
http://www.organicgrocerydeals.com/forums/view.php?pg=coupon_generator
Important note here, Target will take both their own coupon and a manufacturers coupon for an item. This is called stacking. If you check the various web sites I will note, they will match this with sales and also with any gift card specials, for example, there is a gift card special on Sobe Vitamin water this week, buy 10 for $10 and get a $5 gift card. If you have the patience, you pay for this first and then use the gift card on the rest of your order which you pay for separately.

http://www.cvs.com/ , look for the tab for their coupons, usually on the top
http://www.iheartcvs.com/
Check for weekly specials.I live in Manhattan, the drugstores are the only places to use coupons, the supermarkets do not accept them. The important thing about CVS, when you receive those $4 off $20 purchase coupons, use that one FIRST! Otherwise you will be reducing your order and you may not be able to use it. When they have $2 cereal specials, I show up with cereal coupons and stack up.

http://www.walgreens.com/
http://www.iheartwags.com/
http://wildforwags.com/
I get the weekly flyer emailed to me. I use various sites to calculate the best deals there. This week I got 3 scotch tape donut dispensers for $.29 each. This store gives register rewards (RR’s) for some item purchases, the various sites will tell you how to get them. The trick at this store is, you can only use as many coupons as you have items. You cannot use 5 coupons if you are only purchasing 4 items. Also, with the register rewards, DO NOT use them to make a 2nd purchase of the item on the reward as you will not get another. A few weeks back I was able to purchase the small chips ahoy packages, 2 for $2 and got back a $2 register reward. Yes, that means it was free! If I used the RR to pay for a second round of cookies, I would not get another reward. I always need milk so I used it for that and separately purchased as many cookies as I could carry, all separate transactions. And yes, I do have a lot of time on my hands!

The Queen of coupon sites for me is
http://www.hip2save.com/
I check that site all through the day as some coupons have a limited run.

I suggest you check the various sites weekly for new deals and print out as many coupons as you can (if you back space 3 times you can often get a 2nd copy which is usually the maximum). Again, my crowd is a Manhattan crowd, I would check before I leave town and plan a shopping trip with the on-line flyer of whatever supermarket I could get to. I go near my mother-in-law and get double coupons! Again, usually cutting my shopping bill in half.
The following sites sometimes have different coupons for different zip codes, sometimes I put in Beverly Hills, sometimes I pic a town in Minnesota!
http://www.coupons.com/
http://www.redplum.com/
http://www.smartsource.com/

A company that is behind the printing of a lot of coupons is called “Bricks,” this is the site that you can usually back space 3 times to get a 2nd print. I now have 3 computers and 2 printers (one wireless) so I can print out 4-6 coupons, and honey, when it is $1.50 off of Oscar Mayer Bacon, I am printing all of them until they run out!
www.printablecouponspot.com/tag/bricks/

MY COUPON RULE
GOOGLE IT!
If I need a coupon, and I cannot find what I want, I will google the item with the word coupon after and hope for the best. You don’t have anything to lose!
And do this for any department store you are headed to!

I hope to have Part 2 up to you within a few days with the lesser coupon sites, but also worthy of your time!

I LOVE WALGREEN’S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure you are sitting down. I have dry eyes at night. http://www.hip2save.com/ said print out this $1.50 coupon and then go to Walgreen’s for this item and pay 6.49 and get an $8 cash back coupon! Do you understand I am making a profit here, albeit, not enough to support my family, but enough to entertain you all! I have 2 computers that can print 2 each of most coupons. As a side note, I could not print a coupon from a java applet (whatever that means) so I was only able to print 1 $2 Raisin Bran coupon which, wouldn’t you know was on sale for $2 at CVS. FREEEEEE!!! But you have to laugh, Free is fun, profit making with coupons is even better!

Re the thermacare, I do have a soar back. The item was BOGO, 7.49. I had 2 43 coupons. Yes, I paid $.75 for each. Luckily for them they ran out. So to recap, if you can’t get this stuff at a profit, if you can’t get this stuff for free, then certainly 90% off will do!
Advil PM, buy 2 get a $5 cash back coupon. I had 2 x $2 coupons. Net effect was I paid 1.80 instead of 6.30. This barely fit my shopping criteria but someone here uses this item once a week, no not my younger son.
WALGREEN’S RULES
1. You cannot have more coupons than items. In order to use 2 higher value coupons I had to through in a Hershey’s chocolate bar. So sue me!
2. You will not get a cash back coupon if you use one gained from an earlier purchase of the same item. I could use an $8 cash back from the Blink to buy the Advil, but not the $5 Advil cash back, then I would not receive the next cash back coupon.
3. Purchase everything separate, this way you don’t end up with $50 in various cash back coupons that will be difficult to use, buy Advil with Blink cash back, buy Blink with Advil cash back and Doe see Doe your partner!
